Today, people throughout the West are discovering the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Acupuncture, a component of Chinese Medicine is an ancient practice that focuses on healing the whole body instead of just concentrating on its symptoms. By bringing the body's qi into balance, the person's physical, mental, and spiritual well-being can be restored and enhanced.
Come today for a free consultation whether you are currently suffering from health concerns or simply want to optimize your health and the prevention of disease.

Cupping is a therapy designed to stimulate the flow of blood and Qi within the superficial muscle layers. Some conditions cupping treats are sore muscles, tension, neck and back pain and the common cold.
Small glass cups are placed over specific areas on the body creating a vacuum under the cup by way of heat or suction. Some people look as though a large octopus gave them a big hug. The slight redness will quickly dissipate leaving no residual marks and a great feeling of the tension released.
Moxibustion is a treatment that uses a herb called mugwort (Ai Ye).
It may be burned on the handle of the needle, directly or above the skin or used in the form of a moxa pad.
Its warm nature helps quicken the healing process and maintain the flow of Qi within the body.
Tui Na (pronounced "twee nah") translates as "push grasp" and is a massage technique that moves Qi in various parts of the body.
It can be used to relieve muscle pain, tension, inflammation, provide relaxation as well as heal injuries.
Gua Sha (pronounced "gwa sha"), or gentle scraping, is another technique used to release muscle tension, tightness and constriction.
A specialized tool is used to gently scrape or rub the skin over a problem area.
It can also help increase immunity and release stress. Gua Sha feels similar to a deep massage and may also leave slight redness that will quickly dissipate.
Ear acupuncture, also known as auricular therapy, is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Auricular therapy is widely used for many conditions, including addictions, mood disorders, obesity, pain, and other conditions.
This medical system emphasizes a holistic approach to medicine, an approach that treats the whole person.
The acupuncture points found on the ear help to regulate the body's internal organs, structures, and functions.
The National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) is a nonprofit association that conducts training and provides public education about the use of acupuncture as an adjunctive treatment for addictions and mental disorders.
Understanding the principles of both Chinese medicine and chemical dependency can lead to significant benefit in recovery from all forms of drug addiction as well as alcoholism and a variety of mental disorders.
The NADA protocol, a simplified "auricular" (ear-point) needling technique derived from acupuncture, and especially designed for this type of treatment, has been carefully developed and extensively tested.
What is NET?
NET (short for Neuro-Emotional Technique ) is a mind-body stress-reduction technique that uses a methodology of finding and removing neurological imbalances related to the physiology of unresolved stress. NET is a tool that helps improve mental and physical health via muscle testing techniques.
What Can NET Treat?
NET can address a number of conditions relating to physical and behavioral stress. These conditions include headaches, body aches and pains, phobias, general anxiety, self-sabotaging behaviors, organ dysfunctions (such as indigestion) and so much more. It is important to note that NET does not cure or heal the patient, but rather, removes blocks within the body's meridians, thus allowing the body to repair itself naturally.

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Stemming from the 5 element and meridian theory , the intent of acupuncture therapy is to promote health and alleviate pain and suffering.
Qi (pronounced “chee”) or vital energy, flows throughout the body via these meridian pathways. When unbalanced, pain and disease occur.
Using fine sterile needles at specific points of the body, the Acupuncturist is activating the body’s Qi in promoting natural healing and balance within the body.
It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical problems.
Physical and emotional trauma, stress, lack of exercise, overexertion, seasonal changes, diet, accidents or excessive activity can lead to a blockage or imbalance of Qi.
Normally our bodies are resilient and able to restore itself back to a balanced state of health. However, when Qi is disrupted for a prolonged period of time (for example, a stressful job, grievance or a bad diet), the body enters a weakened state allowing illness, pain or disease to set in.
During the first visit, a full health consultation will be performed. Questions will be asked regarding symptoms, health and lifestyle. Pulse taking and tongue examination are a part of the examination.
This information helps the Acupuncturist make a comprehensive diagnosis of where Qi has become blocked or imbalanced. After the initial interview process you will receive a treatment ranging from 20 to 40 minutes.
Give yourself 1.5 hours for the first visit and approximately 1 hour for repeating visits.
The sensation caused by an acupuncture needle varies from person to person. Some feel a little pain while most people feel no pain at all.
Upon needle insertion, you may experience a vague numbness, heaviness, tingling or dull ache. Some people experience a sensation of energy spreading and moving around the needle or body. This is called the Qi sensation and is a completely normal reaction sign.
After treatment, you may feel energized or a deep sense of relaxation and well-being.
The number of treatments vary from person to person, disease to disease and depend on a variety of factors: your constitution, the severity and duration of the problem and the quantity / quality of your Qi.
Some experience immediate relief while others take months or even years to achieve results. Chronic conditions usually take longer to resolve than acute ones.
Plan on a minimum of a month, given that you are getting treated once a week to see significant changes.
An Acupuncturist may suggest one or two treatments per week, monthly visits for health maintenance or seasonal tune ups.
Acupuncture is extremely safe.
Each needle is individually wrapped, used only once and then properly discarded within a biohazard container. This leaves little room for infection. It is an all-natural, drug-free therapy with little side effects.
Some experience slight soreness, bruising and sometimes light-headedness after treatment which usually goes away rather quickly.
As acupuncture is becoming more popular in the West, more medical practitioners (medical doctors, physiotherapists, naturopaths, etc) are studying acupuncture and employing it in their practices, including other types of treatment such as "dry needling", intra-muscular stimulation (IMS), and laser and auricular acupuncture, which are all originally based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture.
Unfortunately, the amount of training in both theory and practice can vary. Below is a list of the various types of certifications:
MD or Physiotherapist:
Naturopathic physicians:
Registered Acupuncturists:
This time is reserved for you. Twenty-four hours notice is appreciated for rescheduling your appointment.
A fee will be charged if twenty-four hours notice has not been given. This is for respect of my patients' and my time.

"I have been seeing Debbie Lee for a few months now to help me with my daily bouts of vertigo caused by Menieres disease. Also, she was treating me for acute pain in my heel and for a few sun blemishes on my face. After each treatment, I felt more energized, I was able to sleep better at night and the pain in my heel was reduced considerably allowing me to continue to play volleyball twice a week. Over time, my bouts of vertigo became less, the constant ringing in my ears almost gone, and finally, after a few more visits, I haven't had an attack of vertigo for over 5 weeks!! Now, I am going to Debbie for maintenance visits to help me with a full recovery. The sun damage to my face has also almost healed. Debbie has a very professional but still very personable manner and there is no pain when the needles are inserted. I never sleep during the day, but when I am having my treatments in the darkened room listening to the relaxing music, I fall asleep. I would definitely recommend Debbie to everyone. Thank you so much for helping to improve the quality of my life. " -- Peter
"Debbie Lee possesses many qualities which I value in a health care practitioner. Aside from her magnificent needle work which stimulates my points in a way that is both gentle and strongly effective, one of her priorities is education. This is something I have found extremely rare in acupuncturists across Canada (I have lived all over!) I am an inquiring mind who wants to know as much about the fascinating world of acupuncture and Chinese medicine as possible, and Debbie Lee responds comprehensively to my questions, and teaches me new things with every single visit. She is also an attentive and judgement-free listener, who truly hears what I have to say, which I have found to be another rare quality. As someone who has suffered a long time with a chronic condition, it is reassuring and empowering to have a health care practitioner who goes above and beyond the usual duties of an acupuncturist, and provides me with the tools to improve the quality of my life. I feel extremely fortunate to have found her, and perpetually look forward to my treatments." -- Courtney, Teacher
"I've always been a light sleeper throughout my life. And with the added stress of the nature of my work, my quality of sleep was getting worse and worse. After my first acupuncture treatment with Debbie, I noticed a remarkable difference in my quality of sleep that evening which made the next work day completely manageable! Colleagues noticed my energy and I felt great as well. I've continued with treatments from Debbie and am now on a maintenance program with her. I highly recommend Debbie's service to anyone suffering from stress and insomnia." -- Stephanie Grant, Executive Director
"I chronically suffer from seasonal allergies and was desperate to try and get some help and reduce taking allergy medication. My first visit to Debbie was extraordinary and I noticed a difference that very night in reduced sinus congestion. Over the next few visits I no longer had to take any medication and now see Debbie for a few maintenance appointment over the year. Would highly recommend to anyone suffering from allergies to give acupuncture a try!" -- Jane
"I have had many acupuncture treatments from various acupuncturists and I have to say that the most comfortable and effective treatment I've ever received has been from Debbie Lee. Her skilled technique allowed for a painfree and relaxing acupuncture session. I felt instant relief after just one treatment! I would highly recommend Debbie Lee to anyone seriously considering acupuncture!" -- Dr. Sandra Lee, Chiropractor

Recommendations via Yelp :
"I was amazed with the treatments I received from Debbie for one of the worst colds I've ever had. After the first treatment, I was 80% better and was actually able to breathe. After the second, I was cured. This was the shortest cold I've ever had and I found that after receiving these treatments, my immune system strengthened on its own. And I have to admit that I have a phobia to needles (I always sweat before having acupuncture treatments or blood tests) but I can hardly feel it when she puts the needles in. Very impressive. She's very knowledgeable, professional and personable and I would definitely recommend her!" -- A. Brinkhurst
